Jason Chae, Producer, Managing Director, Mirovision
Born in 1974 in Seoul, Jason Chae entered the film industry as journalist of the leading film magazine <Cine21> specializing in international film festivals and film markets. That’s also when he started independent film production. In 1998, he established Mirovision as the first international sales & distribution company in Korea. Mirovision has successfully positioned itself as the leading distributor/exhibitor of cutting-edge international titles for Korean market such as Dancer in the Dark, The Butterfly Effect and Whiplash.
Along with successfully producing and executive producing various local films such as Antarctic Journal and Women on the Beach, he has since 2004 also pioneered in the international co-production environment through collaboration with international filmmakers such as on the Chinese co-oroduction Cry Woman (2004 Cannes / Un Certain Regard), the US/Canada co-production Sam’s Lake (2004 Tribeca Film Festival) and Loft, directed by the Japanese horror maestro Kiyoshi Kurosawa. The landmark success of 2010 Cannes Competition entry The Housemaid elevated his potential as an international producer even further. He is currently preparing pre-production of bio-epic Lee Jung-Seop Project and Tomorrow News (Korea/China) and working on English remake of The Housemaid.
