Gerriet Schultz, Founder, Border Movement
Gerriet Schultz, a Berlin-based musician, is the founder of the legendary WMF Club Berlin (1990-2010) and a freelance curator. The focus of his work as a project manager is on intercultural exchange between Asia, Africa and Germany.
In 2012, he started ‘Border Movement’, an intercultural exchange project for electronic music in Germany and South Asia, funded by the Goethe Institutes in India and Sri Lanka. www.bordermovement.com is a blog and platform to promote upcoming artists from the emerging music scenes of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Germany and hosts workshops, residencies, collaborations and events in both regions.
With the SoundLab 2016 in Malaysia, BM extended it ́s activities to South-East Asia in a collaboration with Detour Asia from Kuala Lumpur and the local Goethe Institutes. Since 2016 BM runs a residency program for south asian artists in Berlin and german artists in South Asia (BMR/ Border Movement Residency).
