Laiq Qureshi is the founder and director of Urban Beat Project, a music agency, with a strong focus in Artist management, International bookings, Branded content development and Bespoke event entertainment ideas.
An ex-journalist and a trained musician, Laiq has been in the music industry since 2009.
UBP’s talent roster includes ground-breaking artists like The Ska Vengers, Hang Massive, Dub Fx, and Mr. Woodnote, and works actively in opening newer markets for it’s artists in places like India, UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia, and South America.
As a management unit, UBP focusses on putting it’s artists on the global charts. The Ska Vengers – a New Delhi based Ska-inspired band recently concluded their UK / Europe / Bahrain tour earlier this year with 39 shows, with main stage slots at festivals like Glastonbury, WOMAD, Wilderness Festival, Bestival, Camp Bestival, Lovebox, Love Supreme, Bahrain Jazz Fest etc. The band was also covered widely by the British media, with features and live broadcasts on BBC Radio 4 Clive Anderson’s Loose End with Sara Cox, BBC Radio 3 live from WOMAD presented by Cerys Matthews, a 2-pager feature in the Guardian.
Earlier this year, UBP was also instrumental in getting it’s bristol-based artist – Mr. Woodnote – a summer tour of over 15 shows in UK / Europe ,at festivals like Szene Open Air, Untold Festival, Monte Verde Festival, Pukkelpop, Labertal Festival and more.
Apart from management, UBP also specialises in creating bespoke entertainment ideas, with award winning projects under it’s belt like the ‘Maruti Suzuki Ignis Musical Car’ campaign, dubbed as India’s first musical car. They also have a tech division that builds and integrates scalable tech-based user experiences that fuses the idea of music and technology, for bespoke events.
With a 360 degree vision, UBP also curates and develops content, and boasts of over 14 million views and 28K + subscribers on it’s youtube channel.
UBP’s recent project – Sounds of Society – is an on-going musical web-series conceptualised for Society Tea, that features edgy live collaborations by artists like Delhi2Dublin, Hang Massive, Mathias Duplessy, Mukhtiyar Ali, Delhi Sultanate and more.
